Raised Teacher Pay, Three Years Running
Supported a $2,700 increase to every teacher salary cell in FY25, a $1,300 increase in FY26 passed unanimously, and another $2,700 increase plus a minimum 3.75% raise for all district employees in FY27.

No operating millage increase in FY26 or FY27, the fourth and fifth time in eleven years the board has held rates flat.

Opened a Door for Special Needs Graduates
Worked with then-Representative Tommy Stringer, fellow legislators, and families in 2017 to establish South Carolina's Employability Credential, so students with special needs can finish high school and secure employment with benefits.
02 / Meet Chuck
Experience shaped by schools, families, and service.
“A parent's instincts and a builder's eye.”
Chuck Saylors has spent his life in Greenville County and the last 28 years in Taylors. He and his wife Teresa raised four children here and now have two granddaughters. He is Vice President of J.M. Cope Construction, a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, and has served on the Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees for two decades, including five terms as Board Chairman.
His work in public education started the way it does for most parents, volunteering with the PTA at Woodland Elementary. It took him further than he expected. He served as State President of the South Carolina PTA and went on to become the first male President of the National PTA. As Global Board Chair for the Association for Learning Environments, he worked with architects, builders, and district leaders on the standards that make school campuses safe and secure.
That combination, a parent's instincts and a builder's eye, is what he brings to the board. Chuck is the parent of a child who navigated language-based learning disorders, and in 2017 he worked with legislators and families to create South Carolina's Employability Credential, so students with special needs can finish high school and go to work with benefits instead of chasing a GED.
